50 Cent the Sound Scan Killer aka 50 Spent

I was at first not interested in checking out the new 50 Cent single because I didn't want to just hear a clip of it. After paying closer attention I realized that it wasn't just a clip but the song is actually called "Fully Loaded Clip". I did read that he had some great lines about Jay, Beyonce and even Lil Wayne and 50 Cent is the Sound Scan Killer so I'm sure it is a great song.

Not that it matters too much but so far 50 might be in the running for worst song titles of the year. I would expect song titles like "Straight To The Bank" and "Fully Loaded Clip" on a rap parody record. Also in the category of brilliant song titles the song with Justin Timberlake is called "AYO Technology".

Listen to "Fully Loaded Clip" Notes From A Different Kitchen.

Curtis initially after changing the title of his record to 'Curtis' wanted to actually call the album 'Curtis SSK' the SSK would stand for Sound Scan Killer. Why would anyone at Interscope want him to remove the 'SSK'? Curtis 'Sound Scan Killer' Jackson is a great name. Remember when 'The Massacre' was going to be released on Valentines day and was supposed to be called 'The Valentines Day Massacre' 50 just has a rough time with titles. I guess what can you expect from a guy who is in a group called Gorilla Unit.

From Fark TV

Cam'Ron Releases Statement In Response To "60 Minutes" Appearance

In 2005, I was a victim of a violent crime. I was shot multiple times without provocation by two armed men who attempted to carjack my vehicle. Although I was a crime victim, I didn't feel like I could cooperate with the police investigation. Where I come from, once word gets out that you've cooperated with the police that only makes you a bigger target of criminal violence. That is a dark reality in so many neighborhoods like mine across America. I'm not saying its right, but its reality. And it's not unfounded. There's a harsh reality around violence and criminal justice in our inner cities.

But my experience in no way justifies what I said. Looking back now, I can see how those comments could be viewed as offensive, especially to those who have suffered their own personal tragedies or to those who put their lives on the line to protect our citizens from crime. Please understand that I was expressing my own personal frustration at my own personal circumstances. I in no way was intending to be malicious or harmful. I apologize deeply for this error in judgment.

Another 'Drought 3' Update and Clinton Sparks Leads The Charge

Status Ain't Hood review of the 'Drought 3' really puts things in perspective. The mixtape isn't out yet, we don't even know if the tracks that have leaked are actually going to be on the mixtape. Is it fair to really review it yet? It isn't the review in which Status Ain't Hood succedes in, more so a tale of the 'Drought 3' rumored release over the past month or so as well as the current state of mixtapes. Is this the future of mixtapes? Lots of possible legal issues and fear with regards to big releases? Or is it simply that DJ Khaled really hasn't put down his yelps yet as explained here. When Drama was arrested many accused Dwayne Carter of turning his back on Drama when he said there are legal ways to do things and people need to be careful. We all know that Drama was thrown under the bus by major labels and while many artists experienced gain via 'Gangsta Grillz'. We also know that these mixtapes might not have been 100% legal and it is a shame how it all went down. So has Wayne figured out the legal way to do things? Is the answer to just let people download it for free?

Online-only free mixtapes seem to be the future right now. It seems that some artists are finally catching on to what posting free music to download online can really do. Just ask
Chamillionaire and Talib Kweli, two artists who have recently enjoyed more attention than usual as result. With the way things seem to be headed and lots of legal issues abound for illegal downloads. I can more than get down with artists providing free links to their mixtapes. I don't need to state the obvious as far as what the attention that online music being freely distributed can provide for an artist.

Wayne has made it very clear that you should not pay for 'Drought 3' and when 'Drought 3' does come out I assure you that it will be offered as a free download from Lil Wayne's Young Money Page.

I didn't mean to post a whole article on the current state of mixtapes, I know the topic has been beaten to death. I really just wanted to point everyone to the fact that Clinton Sparks is offering all of his mixtapes for free download on his web site. Yes, that means you can get both of the 'We Got It For Cheap' and all the 'Smash Time Radio' mixtapes as well as countless others legally for free.

Just How Bad Will 'Curtis' Be?

Can Curtis Jackson put out another decent album? Word is that he is saving the more than brilliant album title 'Before I Self Destruct' for his final album on Interscope Records (excluding a possible greatest hits album). Thank God, don't let that go do waste. Confirmed guests for 'Curtis' include:

Robin Thicke on a track called "Follow My Lead"
Justin Timberlake on "Revealed" (Produced by Timberland)

Tracks not yet named will feature Akon, Mary J. Blige, and Pussycat Dolls' Nicole Scherzinger. I can't wait for that Mary J/Curtis collabo, I wonder what that is gonna sound like. Curtis seems to be following a blueprint for 'Press Play' by Diddy.

There is a song rumored to be called "Amusement Park" anyone wanna guess how many illusions to girls and riding rides like riding girls he can make in one song?

Cam'ron's 'CODE OF ETHICS'

Spotted on the The Drudge Report "Flash Report"

Here is a link to a video that will appear next Sunday on 60 Minutes talking about snitching, or basically his "Code of Ethics".

The information below is taken from the Drudge Report:

Rap star Cam'ron says there's no situation -- including a serial killer living next door -- that would cause him to help police in any way, because to do so would hurt his music sales and violate his "code of ethics." Cam'ron, whose real name is Cameron Giles, talks to Anderson Cooper for a report on how the hip-hop culture's message to shun the police has undermined efforts to solve murders across the country. Cooper's report will be broadcast on 60 MINUTES Sunday, April 22 (7:00-8:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

"If I knew the serial killer was living next door to me?" Giles responds to a hypothetical question posed by Cooper. "I wouldn't call and tell anybody on him -- but I'd probably move," says Giles. "But I'm not going to call and be like, The serial killer's in 4E.' "

Giles' "code of ethics" also extends to crimes committed against him. After being shot and wounded by gunmen, Giles refused to cooperate with police. Why? "Because...it would definitely hurt my business, and the way I was raised, I just don't do that," says Giles. Pressed by Cooper, who says had he been the victim, he would want his attacker to be caught, Giles explains further: "But then again, you're not going to be on the stage tonight in the middle of, say, Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, with people with gold and platinum teeth and dreadlocks jumping up and down singing your songs, either," says Giles. "We're in two different lines of business."

"So for you, it's really about business?" Cooper asks.

"It's about business," Giles says, "but it's still also a code of ethics."

Akon Molests 14 Year Old Girl On Stage (Video)

The story behind this video goes like this, Akon told the audience that he was holding a "contest" with the winner getting a trip to Africa. Akon managed to get seven girls on stage, and to compete they had to dance. The winner had to compete with Akon, and one got molested by him. Akon also admitted the contest was a fake after the incident.

Interesting note while educating myself on Akon, he was born in St. Louis, Missouri instead of Senegal. He also owns a diamond mine in South Africa.

I should also note that Akon is a self confessed Muslim who practices polygamy and has 3 wives.

The Hollywood Grind has more info.

Donald vs Rosie (Not Over Yet)

This was a topic that was covered very closely a few months back. I received some criticism for it and as the feud died down so did my desire to keep a close pulse to gossip blogs searching for bits on the beef. My interest was resurrected with this bit of news today from the New York Post.

Donald Trump has unleashed a secret weapon in his feud with Rosie O'Donnell. Remember Rosie's movie "Exit to Eden"? Trump sent to Barbara Walters a gigantic black "undergarment" she wore in the movie on Monday to hang on the office wall at "The View."

The girdle-like outfit - described as "a bustier" and "a giant pair of panties" - was bought at a charity auction by a fan, who then had the relic framed under glass and delivered to Trump.

Here is what Trump had to say about the "gift" from Page Six:
I sent it to Barbara to hang in her office because I didn't want it in mine. It was funny, except that it was really gross. It's disgusting. I feel sorry for [Rosie's] wife. It can't be pleasant.
Trump played the 'Trump Card' and might have dropped the best ether of all time, thoughts?

The 'Drought 3' Leak Isn't Real

Contrary to a bootlegged version currently available online, DJ Khaled has exclusively confirmed to HHNLive.com that Lil' Wayne's "Drought 3" mixtape is still unreleased.

DJ Khaled had this to say exclusively to HHNLive.com about the "Drought 3" mixtape:

"Yeah we just finished mixing it last week, so it should be coming out soon. There’s a bootleg floating around with a few of the songs that leaked, but that’s not even close to all of the tracks that are going to be on the real thing. Plus, the real version is hosted by me and Birdman, so with the bootleg, it doesn’t even have the same feel. But it’s ready to go. We’re just not sure when it’s going to drop yet."

Lil' Wayne's new album, "Tha Carter 3", is expected to be released sometime this summer.

Young Buck - Buck The World (Review)

Young Buck
Buck The World
G-Unit/Interscope
Buy it from itunes

I thought it would be best to hand the reins over to HOG who runs the web site What We Do Is Secret to review the new Young Buck record. I know HOG is a big Buck fan and also the only person I know to have listened to the whole record a few times.

This record had all the indicators of a total train wreck. The title, the wanna be D'Angelo cover art, the Linkin Park dude cameo it all had me wondering if it should have been called Sophomore Slump instead of Buck the World.
He is probably only 6 album titles away from "Buck-aroo Bonzai" or something worse, but until then Buck Marley keeps bringing that Ten-a-key flow. Few have broken down hood life and the dope game as well as Buck. If he is the G-Unit clean up man, he has his hands full as they haven't put a man on base since his last record. Think about it. Straight out of Cashville was followed by Yayo, The Massacre, Mobb Deep, and Rotten Apple. Anyone still have those in heavy rotation? I didn't think so. But instead of bitching and whining like Paul Pierce, he keeps making classics. Buck is making moves and looks ready to stand on his own and that independent streak is what has me ready for "Bucklebery Finn", "Buckistan", "The man from B.U.C.K.L:E.", "Buck's Next", "Buck Sells Out", "Notorious B.U.C.K", or whatever else he can come up with . Buck is just far enough out of the hood that he can simultaneously celebrate his new found success and still spin tales from the hardside without sounding corny or out of touch. You know this site loves Polow Da Don and he has a hot track on here "Get Buck" is a horn driven banger. When a dude that stabbed someone on TV, talks about busting your head you better take it serious and Buck is always taking that mad shit. If you loved Cashville, you will not be disappointed

Lil Wayne To Quit? And 'The Drought 3' on Myspace

I don't get too much into posting rumors, but I can't ignore this. It could explain why no one has heard "La La" and why 'Drought 3' is facing such delays that people are currently circulating bootlegs of a mixtape. The info below was taken from Def Sounds:
From sources very close to Lil Wayne, it seems that the stress of following up his highly acclaimed album Tha Carter 2, is getting to him.

According to the rumors circulating, he’s also thinking about holding off on releasing Tha Carter 3, due to the pressure on it. It’s also being said that Weezy and Juelz aren’t seeing eye to eye on tracks for their much awaited “I Can’t Feel My Face” album.

The rumored tension between came after a disagreement on a track which supposedly features G Unit member, Young Buck. Supposedly Weezy is attempting to grab Fif for a track called “Finished”
Also spotted are some 'Drought 3' myspace pages showing up with players featuring all the music that is out there right now. Page 1, Page 2, Page 3.
